Prof. Dr. NADINE BUYS
Nadine Buys studeerde in 1987 af als biologe aan de KU Leuven en behaalde het doctoraat in de Wetenschappen, dierkunde in 1991 met een onderzoek naar uierontsteking bij schapen.
Vervolgens specialiseerde ze zich in de moleculaire genetica.Van 1998 tot 2007 was Nadine Buys achtereenvolgens onderzoeksmanager en CEO bij het vroegere Gentec en huidige RA-SE Genetics.Vanaf 2003 combineerde zij dit met de deeltijdse functie van hoofddocent aan de KU Leuven.Sinds 2007 is prof. Buys voltijds tewerk gesteld als professor in de dierengenomica aan KU Leuven. Zij is als gewoon Hoogleraar verbonden aan de faculteit bio-ingenieurswetenschappen en leidt de onderzoeksgroep Huisdierengenetica en Selectie van het departement Biosystemen.Van 2013 tot 2019 was zij decaan van deze faculteit en momenteel is ze de ondervoorzitter van de Vlaamse Raad voor Dierenwelzijn.
